The Bad Boy Has A Daughter. By Chimdi Jane Samuel. Chapter Eleven.
*Anna’s point of view*
Me and Noah walked to school I’m silence, it was a cool silence, not the one with malice hanging in the air. And for a moment everything felt good. And I was happy.
Just two days ago, I was only concerned about getting my project done. Now I was with someone who I thought was a racer but he works at a bar, at least that’s what he told me.
When I saw the name on his library card, Noah Bricks, I remembered I heard some people say he’s a racer but when I asked him yesterday he told me he worked at a bar.
He couldn’t be lying would he?
I looked up at Noah who walked steadily beside me, his eyes glued to the floor.
No, this guy beside me was honest, if not he’ll never have told me the truth about his daughter.
He wasn’t lying. Maybe the fact that I heard he was a racer was just rumors, stupid rumors, spoiling people’s name around.
The past few days I’ve known Noah, he’s been nice, and gentle towards me and Casey. He was really taking a big step by keeping Casey, most guys his age would have sent her back and denied ever having her.
But Noah, just took responsibility, at just one glance at her. He didn’t need any DNA test to confirm if she was his. And that was something to be recommend for.
“What’s wrong?” I turned to him again, he looked up from the floor, staring at me with those green eyes, just like his daughter’s
“Just worried that’s all. I know Andrea already settled Casey’s schooling by transferring her here close to me. But there are other things I still need to settle, I don’t know what I’m doing, I thought this was just going to be easy. But it’s not. There’s a lot of responsibilities I’m not complaining but I really don’t know what to do”
I listened to Noah rant. He sighed, stared at the sky and continued. “I used to think I had it all, just me and me alone, but now I look at my apartment and notice how empty it is. I only have a bed, couch, stove, table and nothing else. I have no TV, no groceries, no fridge, nothing. Nothing at all. I need to change the look of my apartment to fit in with Casey, I have a daughter now. There’s a lot I need to buy but I don’t know where to start from, things are just moving so fast”
I didn’t know what to say to that so I took Noah’s hand, lacing it with mine. His hand was so strong and his fingers were a little rough but I didn’t mind, and squeezed it.
“I’m here, Noah. I’m going to help you get through all these”
“But I have nothing to offer Casey, I have nothing” He said, still looking gloomy.
“You have you, and thats enough for her”
After a few more seconds, since Casey’s school wasn’t far from ours we got into the school building
“I’m going to find Clary” I told Noah before running off to the hallways, looking for my best friend, she was going to kill me because I missed her call yesterday.
Seeing her standing beside her locker, I ran to her and closed her eyes.
“Fuck off Anna, I’m pissed”
“Hey, sorry I didn’t pick your call” I muttered, facing her.
“Yea, what Happened Anna, what’s wrong with you? Ever since you started talking with this Noah you’ve changed, you didn’t even go to the clinic to help your aunt yesterday. She called me when you also ignored her call” Clary shouted, slamming some books into her locker, anger surfaced her features.
I couldn’t tell her about Noah, she’ll fry my skin. And she’ll probably tell my aunt just to keep me safe and blah blah. And my aunt would surely disagree and force me to stay with her in gbe clinic which I didn’t want. Noah and Casey needed me now, I couldn’t Abandon them.
“I…I..” I stammered, looking for a lie.
“She took me to the hospital yesterday, to check out my head” Someone said beside me and I turned to see Noah, staring at Clary with a smirk on his face.
But Clary was pissed, she glared at Noah. “I don’t remember talking to you, jerk”
“Why didn’t you go to your aunt’s clinic then? It would have been easier wouldn’t it?” She turned to me, daring me to lie.
“A clinic is different from a hospital, I insisted on going to a hospital” Noah answered again, and I turned to him.
He didn’t even spare me a glance as him and Clary seemed to be having a glaring contest
“Clary stop, I just wanted to help Noah, really” I pleaded with her.
“I hope you know what you’re getting into helping someone like him. It’s going to come back and bite you in the ass” She slammed the locker and walked away.
“Don’t worry about her” Noah spoke, but I didn’t turn to look at him, I watched Clary walk away.
“She’s my best friend, how can I not worry?”
“I’m really sorry about that, but you cannot tell her about Casey, it’s too dangerous for anyone else to know” Noah looked worried for a moment, before masking his face.
“Why?” I wanted to tell Clary if it was the only way she’ll talk to me. “She’s my best friend I need to tell her the truth”
“It’s not your story to tell Anna, I can’t have anyone else knowing, we have to be careful before the information reaches someone dangerous”
“Is there something I should know about?” I asked suspiciously.
“No, but let’s play safe, Anna, this should only be between is, I beg you” Noah pleaded before walking away towards his next class.
What was that about? Why was Noah being so secretive about Casey? Was he hiding something? Of course not, because he’d have told me if he was. Right?
I shrugged before going to class.
School passed by very slowly, I only saw Clary again during lunch and she didn’t even turn to my direction. So I walked up to her after school.
“Hey” I touched her arm, she didn’t turn, just continued walking towards her car.
“If you’re not going to tell me where you were last night, don’t talk to me”
I sighed, moving to stand on front of Clary and turning her eyes to meet mine.
I wanted to tell her, I mean what harm could my best friend possibly do? I trusted her with my life and we’ve been friends for as long as I can remember, so I could trust her with Noah’s secret right.
“Noah has a daughter, Casey, I was with him yesterday”
This story is back on track.
So yeah, Noah admitted to Anna that he didn’t know what to do. I mean if you just found out you had a daughter now, you’ll be confused too right? So Noah needs help and he confessed to Anna, and she’s willing to help him out. Also at school, Noah told Anna not to tell Clary about Casey, because surely he’s scared that Drew might find out, so he’s being extra careful
But Anna being the stubborn one, told Clary. Was this a good decision on her path, and could this lead to more problems? Besides can Clary he trusted with Noah’s most important secret?
