TAMING THE PLAY BOY
( The Nerd And The Bad Boy )
I certainly didn’t sign up for this and I didn’t want it.
His reputation precedes him. Treating girls like toys switching from one to another. Then when he finally gets tired, he disgraces them just like I saw during lunch break.
He suddenly wants to make me his next protegee.
I waited for the teacher to finish her lecture which I had lost all interest in after hearing what that girl had to say.
I keep my cool until the day is off. I adjust my glasses remembering I’m the nerd.
If I’m a bad girl or the bossy bitch I would try to approach him but I’m a nerd so I’ll just ignore. Act like he doesn’t exist. That’s what I’ll do.
I grab my things, get into my car and drive off. Who cares about Ashton definately not me.
The guys erupt in laughter the moment she leaves.
Ted had graciously informed them of the bet and they kept tabs keenly. They helped but pass the news out and most people were already aware.
I envisioned the usual cliche shit. Lucia was originally supposed to lose her cool and approach me show casing her true self. Instead, she simply went home and I’m the source of amusement.
“It’s not funny.”
I gritted my teeth glaring at every one of them.
“Get ready to lose and I finally decided on what I want when you do.”
Ted says and the rest of them cheer.
“Oh and what do you want?”
“You let me take your sister out.”
I thundered. I joke with a lot of things but definately not my sister Vivian. I was just a year older than her. She didn’t go to lake wood and I’m glad about that.
Ted had his eyes on her for a long time now and it makes me sick.
He’s a player so I’ll never let him get close to her, ever.
“I’m not betting my sister.”
I clenched my teeth.
“Then the bet’s off and you’re officially chicken.”
“Say whatever you want, I don’t give a fuck. I’m not betting my sister.”
“Alright, alright. I’ll think of something else then but it doesn’t matter, you’ll have to do it when you lose.”
“I won’t lose.”
I clenched my teeth before turning to leave.
“Where are you going to?”
“To win the bet. I have the perfect plan.”
“Tell us about it tomorrow. How you failed if course.”
The burst into another round of laughter. I shoved them the finger and walked out.
“If I’m going to get her to come out as her true self, I have to appeal to her nerdy fake life. I guarantee this plan might work.”
I mumbled to myself before getting into my car and driving off.
I went home first, I found some glasses from my mom’s room, packed a few books before asking a bunch of questions and finally getting Lucia’s address.
I got back into my car and drove off.
Dad was still at work but mom was a stay home wife with casual jobs here and there.
Currently, she stayed in the living room watching a soap opera. I remained in my room until dinner like every other day.
Suddenly, I hear a soft knock on my door. I sigh ready for her daily dose of how terrible it is for me to stay cooked up in my room. It usually starts during dinner but I guess she’s feeling funky today
I unlocked the door.
“Who are you and what have you done with my daughter.”
She demands but it isn’t even funny.
“I’m not in the mood for jokes mom.”
I roll my eyes and go back to my spot.
“Neither am I. Imagine my shock when I’m watching a soap opera, someone knocks at the door. I twist the knob, the male version of you pops out. He says you two have a study session of some sort. Am so proud of you sweetie… ”
“Ask him if he got the wrong house mom.”
“I thought so too but he said your name.”
“Did he say his?”
“Yeah. Ashton Harold. ”
All the air is sucked out of my lungs immediately.
To be continue…
